Paying Zakat
As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, Zakat is an obligation on every adult Muslim that meets the specified criteria i.e. of sound mind and means.
To qualify to pay zakat, you must own wealth that meets a threshold – Nisaab. Once you meet the specified Nisaab, you are required to pay 2.5% of your wealth as zakat. Zakat is given to the needy to help redistribute wealth in the society.
