Marriage as Mercy and Tranquility (Sakinah in the Home)

Marriage in Islam is not just a contract—it is a sacred bond of love, mercy, and peace. Allah describes it beautifully:

“And among His signs is this: that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you love and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.” (Qur’an 30:21)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best among you to my family.” (Tirmidhi)

Marriage thrives not on wealth or beauty alone but on compassion, respect, and forgiveness. A peaceful home is built when spouses see each other as garments—protecting, comforting, and beautifying one another.

Challenges will arise, but mercy (rahmah) is the oil that keeps the wheel of marriage turning. When we show kindness, overlook mistakes, and pray together, marriage becomes a path to Paradise.
